Training With Viet

Hello Friends,
Winter is almost over and the season is about to start. My second year playing for Burnsville Blaze with a better team every year. During the Summer, Fall, and Winter I have been working hard on my game with Viet Pham. I have been hitting with him for over a year and see major improvements in my game. (Still a lot to be done.) He has tried to fix my messy forehand  ut after almost a year, I'm not there yet. Looking back at old videos of my playing, I have viet to thank for the major improvements over the last 15 months.
I look forward to many more years of intense tennis with Viet and His brother Chi-Lang.

I will keep you updated on photos and Videos during the season!

Another Day in Minnesota

After 4 years of living in Minnesota the first snow finally arrived in late November for a cold winter in 2011. No more playing outside, everything has been moved to inside. My dad has started hitting the ball again since the summer and we are playing together around 3 days a week now followed with my group trainings and private class. Playing as many tournaments as I can, I played my 3rd 16 and under tournement. Since I haven't played a lot of 16's, I was unlucky to not be seeded and not have a by in the first round. I had to play Eliot Anderson in the round of 64 and had a tricky start. Ater a though first set winning 6-4, the second was a lot more one sided as a went through to the round of 32 with a 6-4 6-1 victory. My second match was against the #3 seedin the tournament. It was garenteed to be a though match but once I got on court I was domonent from the start and even more in the second set. I was happy to go through with a 6-3 6-1 victory. My next match was on Saterday night. From the start I was not on my best tennis and never was throughout the whole match. I was rather lucky to beable to finish it in staraight sets 6-3 6-3. Even though I had a bad match I was happy to go to the Quarter finals. In the quarter finals I had to play a tall kid named Carter Jones, This was going to band e a hard match fom the start and I had to play my best tennis to go to the semi finals. we had to play at 9:30pm on Saterday and all I hoped is that it wouldn't go to a 3rd set. Carter coming out super strong and finishing the first set with a 6-3 domonation first set. Even though I was playing amazing, he was out hitting me and in the second he seemed to be in good shape too. He was up 5-4 and serving for a spot in the semi finals Icouldn't do anything but not give up. I broke and it went to a tiebreak later on. It was 11 o'clock and he was up 4-2 in the tiebreak wer again, didn't let go and won the second set 7-6. I was amazed by my tennis. It had to go to a 3rd set tiebreaker and both of us wanted that spot in the semi-finals. Even if it was 11:15 I was full of energy not missing a serve and hitting hard and it payed of, I was ahead 5-1 in the 3rd set tiebreak. The tiebreak goes up to 10 points best out of two, and this time it was Carter that looked like coming back. It was soon 7-6 for me. It was exactly 11:30 when it was 9-6 for me. I finally had 3 match points. He saves two of them but I wasn't going to let fo and finished the match in 2 hours and booked my spot in the semi-finals. I was amazed by the way I played and it couldn't have been any better.
In the semi-finals I had to play Chase Roseth. The guy that took out the #2 seed. and I knew that with the way he plays, it was going to be a though match. He did a lot of high balls and I couldn't handle it and lost 3-6 1-6. I was dissapointed with my match but knew that with such a guy that does only high bals, I have no chance at.
So all together I had an amazing tournement winning 4/5 of my matches. I recorded my best victory so far and played my 3rd 16 and under tournament.
So I had a good weekend:D

October In Minnesota

Hey,
We all love Minnesota, but once it's October we can't play tennis outside anymore and everything is switched to inside tennis. The leaves fall down on the ground, there is lots of wind.... and soon LOTS of snow. This stops me from playing tennis till end of April when I can finally go back outside. In the summer we say it's to hot and we can't go outside, and in the winter it's to cold, and we can't go outside. So let's hope this is going to be winter with less snow then usual and let's have a lot of fun:)

One Month In France

Hey!!!

I don't know about you, but I had an AMAZING summer!
I had a great time in France and Zwitzerland and got to see all my family member again.
I was very happy to go hiking, biking, eating real french pastries and playing tennis:)
We went to Abondance in France for two weeks. Abondance is a beautiful little town. I was extremly happy to finally go there again after almost 5 years. It's in the mountains and that is where I did most of my hiking. What I did most though is waking up and riding my bike in the mountains. Just thirty minutes of going to the peak of a mountain to see the whole town from the top is not the easiest thing to do.
Two weeks before that, I spend another amazing week in Paris. My flight from Minneapolis went to Amsterdam and from Amsterdam to Paris. I saw another family member there and a blast! I saw the eiffel tower and went to the top:)
I also went to Roland Garros and got a tour to center court! It was amazing to fell the real clay and to think about all the people that have been there.
I had a really fun time in France and hope to go there again sometime.
This was my AMAZING summer:)

Thrilling Weekend

Hi all,

This weekend I had another tennis tournament. It was my first tournament outside of this year and it was on my favorite surface "clay".

My first match was against Ryan Canyon, I had never played him in any of my matches so I didn't know what to expect. The conditions were hard playing in freezing cold rain but that was not gonna let the match get in my way.I got out to a good start winning the first set 6-0. In the second he looked to be getting stronger and he leveled the match at one set all taking it 6-3. In the third it was a head to head battle when I just got to make a final move winning the Match 6-0/3-6/6-3. I was happy to make it to the quarterfinals but knew I had a long way to go.

In the quarterfinals I had to play Lewis White. I had played him 4 times before in my life, not loosing a single meeting we ever had, and this time it didn't look like it was gonna be any different, I took the match in a little less than an hour winning 6-0/6-2 to book a place in the semi final.

The semi final was going to be a more close affair, when I had to play the 2nd seated in the tournament Brady Kenyon. It was another hard day as the rain started falling down. It was not easy playing in the rain but we managed to play. Loosing the first set 6-4 and falling back in the second 5-2 0-30 was gonna have to be a challenge coming back all the way. I wasn't ready to give up after saving 3 match points and coming back to 4-5. I was desperate to make a come back but at the end Brady was too strong and it was him who would play in the final on Sunday after winning 6-4/6-4, and I would play for 3rd place.

Playing for third place I had to play #3 seated Jake Kuhlman. I had already played him a few times not being able to win any of them. The first set was a close affair but yet again he was the one who had it his way winning the first set 6-3. In the second everything seemed to go his way when he won 6-3/6-1. Even though I lost, I was impressed with my performance on and off court.

I had a good single round, but now had to focus on doubles. My partner Sam Hochberger and I had to play Bobby Frazzini and Eshan Varma in the first round. The wind was incredibly high and we were again under though conditions. We played a 8 game pro set and just over 30 minutes we had a 8-3 victory in the bag. This meant Semi Finals once again.

In the Semi Final we had to play the Kuhlman brothers. Mitchell and Jake. Jake being the one whom I lost to playing for singles for third place was not gonna give up on a match like this. It was a crazy match but we finished stronger winning 9-7. I was speechless and amazed by our performance. and this meant one other thing... a Final.

In the final we had to play an unstoppable team of Mark Johnson and Anthony Rosa. We did all we could but the conditions were to hard and lost 8-5.

It was a wonderful tournament and even though it was rainy and windy I was delighted with my performance. I found this tournament an amazing achievment and will always come back here. I want to thank the directors and empires of the tournament for doing a good job and being as fair as you possibly can.

I won 2 medals, one for 4th place singles and one for runner up doubles.
You will hear about me in a couple of weeks when I have me next tournament!!!

Till then,
my friends!!!!
